809 Employee Graduates Awarded Verizon Scholarships

Showing a continued commitment to the education of our future leaders, the Verizon Foundation has awarded has awarded 100 new scholarships and renewed 709 scholarships to its employees' sons and daughters. Verizon partners with Scholarship America each year to distribute these awards of $5000 a year and renewable to a total value of $20,000. Verizon's is among the most generous scholarship programs in corporate America, providing students with valuable resources towards achieving their degrees.

Since 2001 Verizon has given out over $36 million in scholarships, reaching 2,152 students and dependents of Verizon Employees. For the 2009-2010 academic year, the Verizon Foundation will invest more than $4 million towards the education of Verizon scholars. This year's recipients will be attending 79 different colleges and universities. Verizon selects these recipients based on financial need, academic accomplishments, and extra curricular activities.
