2007
Verizon Foundation Wins 2007 CASA Special Achievement Award
The National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse (CASA) recently presented the Verizon Foundation with CASA’s 2007 Special Achievement Award. Verizon was recognized for its assistance in educating and informing citizens of the social and economic costs of substance abuse and its impact on the workforce.
2006
Verizon Foundation Wins Silver Award For Innovative Website
The Verizon Foundation’s web site won the Silver Award from the Council on Foundation’s 2006 Wilmer Shields Rich Awards Program. The site www.verizon.com/foundation, received the runner-up honors for excellence in communications in the category recognizing large corporate foundations. The Verizon Foundation’s web site has had a history of success in communicating with nonprofits and the general public.
2005
Verizon Wins First Quills Corporate Literacy Award
Verizon has received the first Quills Corporate Literacy Award in recognition of the company’s support of literacy programs throughout the United States. The award winners were announced at a star-studded ceremony Tuesday at Pier Sixty.
Verizon Wins 2005 ‘Stevie Award’ for Literacy Program
Verizon has won a 2005 Stevie Award for Corporate Social Responsibility for its signature national literacy program, Verizon Reads. The American Business Awards, named Stevies for the Greek word “crowned,” honor great performances in the workplace. The winners, in dozens of categories, were announced last night at a dinner at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel.
Verizon Foundation Wins Gold Award For Innovative Website
The Verizon Foundation’s website has won a Gold Award from the Council on Foundations’ 2005 Wilmer Shields Rich Awards Program. The site, www.verizon.com/foundation, received top honors for excellence in communications in the category recognizing large corporate foundations.

National Latina/o Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Organization Presents Company with First ‘Premio Visionario’ Award
Verizon Receives National Society of Black Engineers’ 2004 Golden Torch Award
Cited for its commitment to economic development, technology advancement and advocacy for the African-American Community, Verizon is the winner of the National Society of Black Engineers’ 2004 Golden Torch Award for Corporate Community Service.
Verizon Foundation Website Receives 2004 Wilmer Shields Rich Award for Excellence in Communications
The Wilmer Shields Rich Awards Program recognizes and encourages excellence in communications by grantmaking foundations and corporate giving programs. The awards showcase the ways foundations and corporate giving programs use communications strategies and techniques to advance the goals of their grantmaking.

Verizon Presented ‘Justice For All Award’
The American Association of People with Disabilities recognize Verizon’s efforts to hire and market to the disabled community.
Verizon to Receive Cause Marketing Award for Community Program Support
2003 Silver Halo Award for Best Social Service/Education Campaign given to Verizon Reads.
Verizon Receives 2003 Helen Keller Achievement Award
The American Foundation for the Blind recognizes Verizon for helping improve the lives of blind and visually impaired schoolchildren through a national literacy campaign.
Verizon to Receive Diversity Award for Community Program Support
Company honored for commitment to local communities and nonprofits.
Verizon Named Corporation of the Year by U.S. Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce
Verizon selected for leadership in promoting economic development, procurement, philanthropy, marketing and employment for Asian-Americans.

DiversityInc Magazine ranks Verizon highest among telecommunications companies in the magazine’s annual survey that appears in the June/July issue.

Girls Incorporated, a national nonprofit advocacy organization for girls, honors Doreen Toben for being ‘smart, strong and bold.’
Verizon’s Washington, D.C. President Named One of ‘25 Influential Black Women in Business’
The Network Journal, a black professionals and small business magazine selected Marie C. Johns for her professional achievements, outstanding community service and strong leadership.
2002
Verizon Communications Honored with National Literacy Award
The National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL) honors Verizon’s commitment to raising the nation’s literacy levels.
Verizon Honored for Diversity Accomplishments
Verizon wins Savoy magazine’s first Excellence in Diversity Award for Executive Leadership for it’s outstanding record of promoting women and multicultural executives to senior-level positions.
Diversity Commitment Makes Verizon a Standout
The Executive Leadership Council, a national organization of African-American senior executives in Fortune 500 companies, presents the Corporate award to Verizon for increasing the number of minority and female employees and continued commitment to diversity.
